Los Banos:
Investing in the future
The Los Banos City Council voted to join Peninsula Clean Energy in October 2020 in order to bring utility savings, rebates, and clean electricity to the residents of Los Banos. We are proud to serve Los Banos since 2022.
$4M in savings since 2022
PG&E bills increased dramatically in the last year for everyone. But with Peninsula Clean Energy, Los Banos businesses and residents paid less than those in neighboring towns. In fact, our Los Banos customers currently benefit from an 5%-8% discount off of PG&E’s electric generation rates. That’s over $4 million that stayed in Los Banos customers’ pockets instead of being paid to PG&E.
$626,000 provided for new appliances
Peninsula Clean Energy has provided Los Banos customers with more than $626,000 for low-income home upgrades, home appliance rebates, and 0% percent loans of up to $10,000. We’ve also provided rebates for used EVs, which cost less to operate and maintain than gas or diesel cars.
$217,000 in excess solar credits
Do you have a solar system on your roof? Peninsula Clean Energy buys your excess solar power at a better price than PG&E does. As a result, more than 1,000 Los Banos solar customers received checks for generating more energy than they used during this past year.

Community Center goes solar
Solar carports have been built at the Los Banos Community Center that are expected to save the City more than $1 million over the lifetime of the equipment. This project, part of Peninsula Clean Energy’s Government Solar Program, required no upfront costs to the City and used union labor for construction. It will begin operations in 2025.
Los Banos Wright Solar Project
This large renewable energy installation was built for PCE right outside of Los Banos. The solar facility was constructed by Swinerton Renewable Energy with roughly 400 union workers from the surrounding areas that were hired as part of a five-union project labor agreement.
