Peninsula Clean Energy
FAQs
Peninsula Clean Energy supplies your home or business with electricity from clean or renewable sources at more affordable rates. PG&E delivers our energy to you through the line and wire infrastructure that they own. Peninsula Clean Energy is a not-for-profit organization, and we reinvest our earnings into our communities.
Yes! As a PCE customer, you still receive the full value of your CARE/FERA/Medical Baseline discount in addition to the savings all customers enjoy from being enrolled in PCE.
All residents of San Mateo County and the City of Los Banos are automatically enrolled in Peninsula Clean Energy’s more affordable electricity generation rates unless they have taken action to opt out. If you’d like to confirm your enrollment, you can contact us at 1-866-966-0110 or info@peninsulacleanenergy.com. Peninsula Clean Energy rates are a minimum of 5% lower than PG&E’s rates, so our customers save money by choosing us as their generation provider.
- TOU rates charge different prices based on the time of day. When energy demand is high and there is less renewable supply available (typically around 4-9 P.M.), rates will also be higher. TOU rates are designed this way to encourage energy use when renewable energy is abundant, reducing grid strain during peak hours.

Renewable energy comes from natural sources that replenish quickly, such as sunlight, wind, water, and geothermal heat. These sources reduce reliance on finite fossil fuels and help lower greenhouse gas emissions. Renewable energy reduces air pollution, lowers greenhouse gas emissions, conserves water, and helps protect ecosystems by avoiding the mining and drilling associated with fossil fuels.
Learn more about the electrification incentives available to you Peninsula Clean Energy offers rebates on heat pump HVAC systems, heat pump water heaters, and more! We also have an incentive finder tool to help you discover other rebates you may qualify for.
Electric Vehicles (EVs) produce zero emissions when driving, which reduces air pollution and greenhouse gases. When charged with renewable energy, EVs decrease their carbon footprint even more compared to gasoline-powered vehicles. Learn more about EV incentives and ownership.
A VPP aggregates small, distributed energy resources—such as home solar and battery systems—to operate as a single, flexible resource in the grid, balancing demand and supporting renewable integration.
Our energy is produced from carbon-free sources, such as solar, wind, hydroelectric, and geothermal. These sources are located in California, Oregon, Nevada, and Washington State. PCE is moving away from nonrenewable energy—including large hydroelectric power—so we can supply our customers with 100% renewable energy by 2030. Currently, our ECOplus service is over 50% renewable and our ECO100 service is 100% renewable.
A REC represents proof that 1 MWh of electricity was generated from a renewable source. RECs allow individuals and companies to support renewable energy, even if they can’t generate it directly.
