Where Your Energy Comes From

Power Content Label

As a Peninsula Clean Energy (PCE) customer we committed to you on day one to only use clean energy sources and to keep your electricity as affordable as possible.

We are keeping our promises to you and below you’ll find confirmation of just how we are keeping our clean electricity promise. Think of it as an ingredient label, just like the one on your favorite foods, but for the electricity you use.

What is the Power Content Label?

The Power Source Disclosure Program is intended to help Californians understand where their electricity comes from. Every year, energy providers like Peninsula Clean Energy share details about the mix of energy sources and greenhouse gas emissions for each of their electricity plans. This information is presented on the Power Content Label, alongside a statewide reference mix called “Total California System Electricity.”

We know the table itself can be challenging to read, so we’re working to make it more accessible.

The following chart details our sources for your clean energy as well as a comparison against other California utilities. The California Energy Commission (CEC) requires us to provide customers with information about their energy services. Also below is a more accessible version that works with our accessibility tool:

1The eligible renewable percentage above does not reflect RPS compliance, which is determined using a different methodology.

2Unspecified power is electricity that has been purchased through open market transactions and is not traceable to a specific generation source.

3Renewable energy credits (RECs) are tracking instruments issued for renewable generation. Unbundled renewable energy credits (RECs) represent renewable generation that was not delivered to serve retail sales. Unbundled RECs are not reflected in the power mix or GHG emissions intensities above.
