Our Purpose

PCE is on a clean energy mission

Our mission is to provide competitively priced, greenhouse gas-free electricity options to San Mateo County and Los Banos. Through renewable energy procurement and innovation, we’re leading the charge to decarbonize our power supply, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and combat climate change. This vision drives every decision we make, from investing in new energy storage projects to securing 100% renewable energy for our community.

Energy Portfolio

A balanced mix to power our homes & businesses

Think of our energy mix like a balanced meal—each ingredient plays an important role. We combine clean sources like wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, and storage to create a reliable and sustainable energy portfolio that powers your home responsibly. This thoughtful blend keeps the lights on and energy rates stable, while minimizing fossil fuel pollution.

Energy Content

Where does my electricity come from?

Take a closer look at the energy sources powering your home. Like an ingredients label on a food package, our power mix shows the types of energy that make up your electricity. Whether it’s the balanced blend of ECOplus or the 100% renewable ECO100, this transparency lets you see the impact of every kilowatt.

Energy Sources

How we select clean energy sources

We’re committed to sourcing clean energy that keeps rates stable, cuts greenhouse gas emissions, and supports California’s economy. To do this, we pursue partnerships to construct new, renewable energy facilities, putting solar panels, wind turbines, and other clean infrastructure in place. Our trusted partners help us provide you with energy that’s better for the planet and our community.

Around the Clock

Our commitment to 100% clean power, every hour

We have a mighty goal: Provide our customers with 100% renewable energy, every hour of every day. Achieving this objective requires reshaping the energy ecosystem, so the renewable power supply meets demand around the clock. This change won’t happen overnight, and we can’t do it alone. Although PCE represents only 1.5% of California’s electricity load, we’re driving meaningful change by using our buying power, pushing for policy changes, and building partnerships with other Community Choice Aggregators and renewable developers. Together, we’re working to transform the energy ecosystem and accelerate a 24/7 carbon-free future—balancing affordability with progress for our community.

Local Resources

Deeper decarbonization with distributed energy

PCE is committed to decarbonization by developing 20 MW of new local, renewable power sources through solar panels on rooftops and carports, as well as distributed energy resources like batteries and electric vehicles. Virtual power plants, which are made up of collections of these resources, have the potential to lower costs, increase resiliency, and give customers more control over their energy usage. Learn more about our efforts to bring virtual power plants (VPPs) to San Mateo County and Los Banos.

Powering Our Community

Building a healthier future together

Our energy projects are about more than clean power—they’re investments in our community’s future. By supporting new projects that serve the western grid, we’re creating jobs, reducing emissions, and building a resilient, sustainable energy future for everyone. Procurement Solicitations

Partner with us

PCE partners with renewable energy developers and project owners to secure sustainable power that supports our community’s needs and environmental goals. Through open solicitations and bilateral engagements, we invite developers to contribute to our mission by providing innovative, clean energy solutions.

We also partner with member agencies to offer grants and loans for smaller-scale projects within our service area.
